LBS Tracking and the Department of Justice

Wired reports on two recent rulings by lower courts that prevent the Department of Justice from acquiring location records from cellular carriers without ‘probable cause’.

The Department of Justice will likely appear the rulings. And ultimately it will fall to Congress to better define the laws about location privacy.

Would be interesting to understand how they handle this issue in more advanced LBS regions such as South Korea and Japan.
